Beautiful post. I've always had shelves and shelves of books. All but a few survived the fire though I lost some of my zines. Three of the bookshelves, though they survived, were old cheap crap and didn't survive the move to storage and back again. So most of my books are in boxes in the garage, waiting for me to get new bookcases. I do have plans to go through and cull some of the books. Later. Or maybe never. Life, past 60, is clearly much shorter now, and I have more reading and writing to do, and much less interest in getting rid of things, something which seems extra hard since I lost many things I treasured.
