Haven't felt like writing in a while with all the war news I've been bombarded with from living in my neck of the country. Finally I figured ranting on anything and everything that suits me be it good or bad would be a lot better then keeping it all in so I'm back with a rant about something that's been bugging me. Reality shows.

Apparently, this trend of reality (I don't know whose it's supposed to be but oh well) shows is pushing a few shows into cancellation. They're suppose to be cheaper to make and almost always get rating thus advertisement spots from high profile companies which means reality shows are cash cows.

So art is sacrificed to commerce. Some of this shows are just plain sad and I don't know what's worse,

A) that fact tha someone pitched something like Joe Millionaire to a studio,
B ) the fact that studio jumped on board
C) They always find people to be on these shows (that largely need women)
or D) that people watch them.

Now I'll admit I watched Joe Millionaire for a little while only to see how feral these women were going to get over a guy they thought was worth 50 million. And it was funny but also kind of said especially when we live in the 21st century. The fact that there are still women out their who think just because they have a man in their lives they're a little better then a single girl. And if you're married the higher up on the status scale you are to some.

Don't get me wrong ,en are fun. There's lots of fun things you can do with a penis. Am I going to go on national television and embarrass myself to get the chance? No. And the worst part is the people they pick for these things aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

Take Evan Marriott aka Joe Millionaire. He seems like a nice guy, not too bright upstairs but a fairly nice guy. He doesn't seems too ambitious either to be making $19,000 a year. And I'm not talking about making a lot of money to snag a girl but if he likes construction and building things as much as he says he does then there's nothing wrong with finding a way to do what you love for a living and not being under the poverty line for income.

Or maybe it's just me. I'm a writer but I don't believe I have to starve for my art. I went through that in college and it was fun. I'm able to have a 9to 5 that's in the same field I love and still pursue my dream of writing and publishing my own work without feeling I've compromised something. But this is completely off topic so I'll save it for another time. ^_^

There are a few reality shows that are genuinely intriguing. Like WB's High School Reunion. I liked this show because I was in the same age bracket as the people on it and I could relate my high school years to there's.

But for the most part they just get on my nerves and most of the people who do watch only do so to get a laugh at someone else's expense.
