Joss Whedon and his relationship problems
Feb. 13th, 2009 04:30 pmSo Dollhouse premiers tonight on FOX, but I'm not sure I should watch it. See, I have this theory that Joss Whedon is in a abusive relationship with FOX. He creates these wonderful shows and FOX builds him up then tears them down an throws him to the curb until they need the next cool thing for their network then they seduce him back and Joss, poor Joss, is not breaking the habit.
Plus FOX has a history of being a one season wonder and I'm not sure that I want to invest in a show on a network that will pull the plug on a series for the most idiotic of reasons. Or sign a show they weren't that into in the first place (i.e., Firefly, Jewel Staite had some interestin things to say about the shows treatment by network at Shoreleave '08). The list of good shows that FOX has tanked after a season is very long.
My mother and I had this big discussion about it last night because she thinks Dollhouse looks like it could be awesome but she's nervous about watching cause it's on FOX. And yeah, there's Eliza and Tahmoh in the cast so you know its got good actors and Joss always delivers scriptwise even if we don't know where he's going with things we always enjoy the ride. Also, he likes to f*ck with the fans a little, how else do you explain the last episode of Buffy, which makes every mary sue slayer fanfic on the internet canon?
I say Joss should dump FOX and started dating the Scifi channel, or hook up with Showtime, maybe even get flirty with HBO. But be with a network that will get his inner wacky and let him be creative and at the very least if the relationship ends not for stupid BS.
